‚Kids Clinic': Star Coaches for Kids

1,500 children singing „Happy Birthday to you" for 100m h world champion Priscilla Lopes-Schliep, superstars such as Asafa Powell, Blanca Vlasic, Sanya Richards, or Andreas Thorkildsen chatting on the infield of the Letzigrund stadium - certain signs that it is time for 'Jugend trainiert mit Weltklasse', the annual Weltklasse Zürich kids clinic.

21,500 were drawn by lot from 2,500 applicants for the unique training session with the stars of athletics. As many as 24 athletes coached excited but patient girls and boys who were waiting in long lines for their turn to get advice from a star. Hundreds of parents were watching the action in the arena from the stands. Some children automatically chose their favourite event, while others were magically drawn towards their favourite athlete.

10 young talents participated in a Canon photo contest: One of them will have the opportunity to act as a junior photographer at Weltklasse Zürich on Friday.

In addition, Heinz Frei and Edith Hunkeler prepared a special course for young paraplegic talents, among them two boys and two girls from Chur. Training with the two wheelchair sports stars was a visibly impressive and motivating experience.
