Under the aegis of Andreas "Res" Brügger, Weltklasse Zürich has risen to become the world's number one athletics meeting. We have been able to maintain this position without interruption in the new Letzigrund Stadium built in 2007. The World Athletics Heritage Plaque received from Lord Sebastian Coe is emblazoned on its main entrance. With this plaque, the World Athletics Federation recognises outstanding contributions to the worldwide history and development of athletics.
However, Weltklasse Zürich and the Letzigrund Stadium are not only regarded as a "monument to world athletics". No, over the years many other awards have been added that underline Weltklasse Zürich's commitment in and outside of athletics, such as the ecosport.ch Award (2009/2012/2015) for particularly sustainable sporting events, or the XAVER Award, the most prestigious national seal of approval in the field of live communication and events – to name just two.
