The Platinum award from World Athletics is the highest level in the sustainability ranking for international athletics events. It is given to events that go beyond basic standards by implementing particularly comprehensive and effective measures in environmental management, social responsibility, and sustainable event organization.

«Together on Track» is a joint campaign by Weltklasse Zürich, Athletissima Lausanne and Swiss Athletics. We share inspiring, unifying projects and stories with the wider public, thereby motivating and encouraging others to follow suit and launch further initiatives.

Since 2024, all meetings of the World Athletics Series, including the Wanda Diamond League meetings, are required to conduct comprehensive reporting on their sustainability efforts. Measures in the areas of environmental, social, and economic sustainability are divided and assessed across six categories and 55 subcategories. The Wanda Diamond League meetings have committed to achieving Bronze status from 2026 onwards. We are aiming for Platinum status and, in the first complete assessment in 2024, achieved Gold status.

The nine events have agreed on a joint sustainability charter.

As part of the World Class Zurich Zoo Run, we support a sustainability project at Zurich Zoo every year.

Thanks to this collaboration, we can also establish our school project “Weltklasse Zürich Extrameile” in other cantons.

In cooperation with ZVV, we enable all volunteers and ticket purchasers to use public transportation in the city of Zurich free of charge.

By using BWT water stations, we avoid the use of PET bottles both during the meeting week and throughout the year.

Weltklasse Zürich was awarded the ecosport.ch Award in 2009 and 2012.
