LC Zurich: Pioneering spirit for over 100 years

Founded on 15 March 1922 as an independent section within FC Zurich, Leichtathletik-Club Zürich (LCZ) has become one of the most successful and influential sports clubs in the country over the past century. Almost 100 Swiss club championship titles bear witness to this. At national individual title competitions, the city club is regularly on the (top) podium in both the elite and junior categories. In addition, active or former LCZ members have won around 40 medals at European and World Championships and the Summer Olympics.
However, LC Zurich is not only committed to developing athletics potential, but also supports and promotes the core Olympic sport as a reliable organiser of numerous events on behalf of the Association for Major Events of LC Zurich (VfG/LCZ) - from city, cantonal and regional junior competitions to the Swiss Active Championships (most recently 2009/17/22) and European Championships (2014) to the two-day final of the global Wanda Diamond League at Weltklasse Zürich (2021/22/25).
