Historic Swiss successes in Götzis and Diamond League victory for Audrey Werro

At the traditional combined-events meeting in Götzis, Simon Ehammer and Annik Kälin celebrated a historic Swiss double victory. Both prevailed against the international combined-events elite and ensured the most successful weekend for Switzerland in the 51-year history of this prestigious meeting.

Simon Ehammer won the decathlon with an excellent total of 8'778 points, improving his own Swiss record. Annik Kälin also delivered an outstanding performance: with 6'726 points, she set another Swiss record in the heptathlon and secured victory as well. The two Weltklasse Zürich ambassadors thereby underlined their ambitions for the major highlights of the current season.

Another Swiss highlight came from Audrey Werro in Rabat. The Weltklasse Zürich ambassador won her first Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season, confirming her exceptional form. Werro seamlessly built on her strong performances from last year, when she delivered one of the most emotional moments of Weltklasse Zürich 2025 with a spectacular victory at the Wanda Diamond League Final.

In Rabat, Angelica Moser also delivered a strong performance. The pole vaulter finished third, securing another Wanda Diamond League podium.

These recent successes are a powerful demonstration of the current strength of Swiss athletics and further heighten anticipation for 26 August 2026, when the world’s best athletes will once again gather at Weltklasse Zürich in the Stadion Letzigrund.
