Ticket sales launched – Running for conservation at Zoo Zürich

The Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run takes participants on a 2.7-kilometer loop through Zoo Zürich. The course runs through the otherwise closed zoo, past fascinating habitats and their animal inhabitants. Participants decide for themselves how many laps they complete and at what pace. Whether as a family, individual runner, or group – the Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run is open to people of all ages and performance levels. Starting places are limited and traditionally sell out quickly.

A particular highlight is early access to Zoo Zürich: with a ticket, participants may enter the zoo from 3:00 p.m., allowing them to visit their favorite animals and experience the zoo in a calm and special atmosphere before the run.

“The Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run is a wonderful example of how physical activity, experiencing nature, and conservation can be meaningfully combined,” says Dr. Severin Dressen, Director of Zoo Zürich. “Through this run, we raise awareness among people of all ages about the importance of species conservation – while simultaneously supporting concrete projects that create long-term impact.”

Running for conservation – Special focus: the Hyacinth Macaw

Participation in the Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run also represents a valuable contribution to international conservation efforts. All ticket revenues in 2026 will support a conservation project in Brazil. In this region, Zoo Zürich and the Instituto Arara Azul work together to protect the endangered Hyacinth Macaw and preserve its fragile habitat, one of the most biodiverse wetlands in the world.

“The Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run symbolically represents the core values of Weltklasse Zürich: sustainability, responsibility, and long-term development,” says Christoph Joho. “We are delighted to host this special running event together with Zoo Zürich for the fifth time and to combine enthusiasm for sport and joy in movement with a tangible contribution to conservation.”

Ticket prices and participation

Ticket prices for the Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run 2026 are CHF 30 for adults and CHF 20 for children aged 6 to 16. Children under six participate free of charge. Due to the limited number of starting places, early registration is recommended.
