UBS Kids Cup celebrates Milestone: «We are two Million»

Two million participations since its launch: the UBS Kids Cup has reached a significant milestone. Few youth sports programmes in Switzerland have reached as many children and young people in recent years. The figure reflects the programme’s broad reach and its role in promoting physical activity and supporting young talent.
Every year, more than 150,000 children take part in sprinting, long jump and ball throw competitions. This makes the UBS Kids Cup Switzerland’s largest youth athletics series. For many children, the competition is their first encounter with organised sport; for some, it marks the beginning of a future career in athletics.
This success story is made possible by the long-term commitment of Weltklasse Zürich, Swiss Athletics and main partner UBS, who have jointly developed and shaped the UBS Kids Cup since its launch. Numerous athletes who once took part themselves and now serve as ambassadors for the programme also contribute to its success. They include Simon Ehammer, Ditaji Kambundji, Jason Joseph and Angelica Moser.
However, the UBS Kids Cup takes a broader approach than talent development alone. At its heart is the aim of inspiring as many children as possible to be active and giving them positive experiences through sport. Alongside competition, the programme places particular emphasis on the enjoyment of physical activity, personal achievements and the shared experience of sport.
To mark the milestone of two million participations, the UBS Kids Cup is launching a cross-media communications campaign. At its centre are personal stories from former participants, ambassadors and other personalities who share their memories and experiences of the programme.
The stories highlight the different meanings the UBS Kids Cup can have for those who take part. For some, it remains a special memory of their school days; for others, it became the starting point for sporting ambitions, new friendships or a career in elite sport.
Under the shared campaign message «We are two Million», these individual experiences come together. The campaign puts the people behind the number at the centre: children and young people gaining their first competition experience, as well as parents, teachers, club representatives and athletes who have accompanied the programme throughout the years.
