UBS Kids Cup continues its success story: enthusiasm and excitement at record levels

The UBS Kids Cup remains the largest and most successful youth project in Swiss sport. In the 2025 season, the joint project between UBS, Swiss Athletics and Weltklasse Zürich once again impressively demonstrated how deeply rooted enthusiasm for exercise, fair play and community is throughout Switzerland. From March to October, 152,464 children and young people took part in 1,053 events in schools and clubs – confirming the consistently high level of participation seen in previous years.

«The UBS Kids Cup is much more than just a competition – it is a flagship project promoting exercise, fairness and enjoyment of sport. Every year, we see children and young people participating with enthusiasm and learning important values for their personal development. I am particularly proud that we have succeeded in combining the joy of sport with the promotion of talent – and in building a bridge between grassroots and elite sport,» says Marco Meili, UBS Kids Cup Project Manager.

A particular highlight of the 2025 season was the success story of Ditaji Kambundji: the hurdler, herself a former participant in the UBS Kids Cup, secured second place at Weltklasse Zürich in the summer and then sprinted to gold at the World Championships. Her presence at the Swiss final, where she answered questions from the young athletes, underlines the close connection between the project and the Swiss athletics elite.

With its blend of exercise, enthusiasm and interaction, the UBS Kids Cup remains a key component of youth development in Switzerland – and a driving force for the advancement of athletics at all levels.

About the UBS Kids Cup: The UBS Kids Cup is the largest youth sports project in Switzerland and has attracted over 1.5 million participants since 2011. Every year, more than 150,000 children and young people aged between 7 and 15 compete in the three basic movements of running, jumping and throwing – first in schools and clubs, then at regional, cantonal and national level, culminating in the Swiss final at the Weltklasse Zürich stadium.
