Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run 2025 generates record donation of CHF 31,500

At the sold-out Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run 2025 in early May, over 1,200 participants – whether tall or small, young or old, ambitious or relaxed – ran together through the closed Zurich Zoo for a good cause. Particularly gratifying: Numerous company teams also participated this year in support of nature conservation. Together, participants in this animal-themed running event for all generations set a new donation record for the benefit of conservation.

Prominent athletes such as Olympic champion Nicola Spirig and marathon star Tadesse Abraham also took part in the Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run 2025. They not only joined the run themselves but also brought smiles to many faces during autograph sessions. Additional highlights were provided by partner activations – including the Balgrist University Hospital with a professional taping service and running analysis, games by SRF Kids, shoe testing by On, and refreshments from Le Gruyère.

CHF 31,500 for tiger conservation in Thailand

A total of CHF 31,500 was raised for the conservation project in Kaeng Krachan National Park in Thailand – a significant increase compared to last year’s edition. For many years, Zurich Zoo has supported the protection of wild tigers and Asian elephants in the park – with visible success.

At the check handover, Zoo Director Severin Dressen and Weltklasse Zürich Co-Meeting Director Christoph Joho looked back on the successful event:

“With this generous amount, we support the important work of our conservation partner in fighting poaching and monitoring the tiger population in the Western Forest Complex in Thailand. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in the Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run 2025 and contributed to this cause.”

– Severin Dressen, Zoo Director

“The Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run is much more than a running event – it combines movement, community, and sustainable commitment. Two strong partners join forces to promote sport with joy and enthusiasm, raise awareness for nature, and engage a broad community for a good cause.”

– Christoph Joho, Co-Meeting Director Weltklasse Zürich

Weltklasse Zürich Zoo Run 2026 already in the works

Following another successful edition in 2025, preparations are already underway for the next event in spring 2026. Once again, the popular run through Zurich Zoo aims to inspire as many people as possible – for an unforgettable experience that benefits both people and animals.

Excitement for projects around Weltklasse Zürich remains strong, and the next highlight is already on the horizon: On 27 / 28 August 2025, Weltklasse Zürich will host the Final of the Wanda Diamond League at Sechseläutenplatz and in Letzigrund Stadium. After tickets for Letzigrund Stadium sold out in less than two hours, sports enthusiasts can look forward even more to Weltklasse Zürich at Sechseläutenplatz.

On Wednesday, 27 August 2025, pole vaulters, high jumpers, and long jumpers will take off into the air – additionally, both Wanda Diamond League shot put finals will take place. Admission to Sechseläutenplatz is free – tickets for the grandstand seats go on public sale on 18 June 2025.
