Our Events 2022

Weltklasse Zürich is more than just a night of athletics on the highest level. In 2022, there will be as many as 10 “Weltklasse” days. A number of Weltklasse Zürich pop-up events will premier from 1 to 7 September 2022. They include all kinds of activities for people of all ages in the lead-up to the athletics highlight, the Wanda Diamond League Final on 7 and 8 September. Six final competitions will be staged on Zurich’s Sechseläutenplatz on Wednesday, and as many as 26 finals will be part of the event at Letzigrund Stadium on Thursday. To round off this year’s Weltklasse Zürich programme of events, we will celebrate the best seven to 15-year-old talents of the UBS Kids Cup, the future stars of our sport, in a national final on Saturday, 10 September.

Weltklasse Zürich Pop-Ups

1 to 7 September 2022 – Weltklasse Zürich coming to an area near you! The new Weltklasse Zürich Pop-Ups have been created to introduce Weltklasse Zürich and the meeting’s “never stop” spirit to even more people. In a new way. There will be all kinds of activities, including special behind-the-scenes glances, runs with athletics professionals, UBS Kids Cup test competitions, and insights into the mindsets of high performers.

Weltklasse Zürich on Sechseläutenplatz

7 September 2022 – Six final events of the 2022 Wanda Diamond League to be held in the heart of the city. The longest temporary track in the world, the best female pole vaulters, a spectacular show by the participants in the men’s high jump, and both shot put competitions. “By staging competitions on Zurich’s largest square, we would like to give people the opportunity to watch the action from up close and to experience the fascination of athletics outside the stadium, as well”, Co-Meeting Director Andreas Hediger explains.

Weltklasse Zürich at Letzigrund Stadium

8 September 2022 – 26 Wanda Diamond League final events in front of the world’s finest crowd at the legendary Letzigrund Stadium. A unique energy, a sublime stage, and an exciting showdown. The best athletes worldwide and Switzerland’s stars line up against each other. Get ready for another night of breathtaking performances: The sport’s highfliers, Olympic and world champions, crowd favourites – they all compete in Zurich, to the delight of fans around the world.

UBS Kids Cup

10 September – Two days after the final of the Wanda Diamond League, the stage is set at the Letzigrund Stadium for the stars of tomorrow! Although no diamonds will be awarded at the Swiss final of the UBS Kids Cup, those who make it to the top of their age group in the country's biggest series of competitions for young athletes can at least dream of a promising career in sport. It is not for nothing that the UBS Kids Cup is regarded as a stepping stone to the world class.
