Recap
DUPLANTIS' NEXT RECORD
Armand «Mondo» Duplantis is the world record holder (6.21m) and also holds the Weltklasse Zürich meeting record (6.06m/2021). But Duplantis is a competitor at heart. So, when there are no more opponents at the height of 6m, he challenges himself instead. Therefore, it did not come as a surprise, when he asked for the bar to be raised to 6.07m after he had successfully cleared 5.91m. And fans were delighted, though probably not surprised, when he indeed managed to improve his own stadium record by a centimetre.

AVOIDING ANOTHER MISHAP
Arman “Mondo” Duplantis (22), cleared the 6m for the very first time at Letzigrund Stadium last year. He also attempted setting a new world record and kept the crowd at the stadium for an extra half-hour. He returns to Zurich as a world record holder (6.21m) and as world and European champion. The only mishap he experienced in the meantime was being defeated for the first time in more than a year in Brussels last week. Duplantis, who is a citizen of Sweden and the US and the most successful pole vaulter of our century, will give his best to avoid another loss tonight.
